Gill has been involved in education in New Zealand for over 25 years. She has been a classroom teacher at all levels from early childhood to Year 8. For eight years she has worked with preschoolers, introducing a sensory motor programme to New Zealand called GymbaROO. Recently Gill sat on a national reference committee to develop a national framework and guidelines in Early Childhood and Physical Activity initiated by the Ministry and SPARC (Sports and Recreation NZ).
She wrote the Active Movement brochures, modelled on her book Moving to Learn. She is also contracted to SPARC to educate Active Movement advisors nationally.
