Louise Dempsey

Experienced Teacher, Consultant, Trainer and Writer in the area of Primary Education

Background

Louise works as a literacy consultant and also leads a professional learning project on the Mt Roskill Campus. She delivers regular literacy training at Kohia Teachers' Centre, including the literacy courses for the beginning teacher groups.

In addition, she provides literacy professional learning to a range of schools in Auckland and trains at teacher centres around New Zealand. Louise is the New Zealand ‘Smart Words' trainer and works closely with Gill Connell at Moving Smart.

Louise spent 12 years leading the Primary Strategy in East London where she led a team of consultants and managed the professional learning across all primary schools in Hackney. She also worked on a range of national projects in the UK and wrote resource material for teachers.

Louise is currently co-authoring 'The Writing Book' (a guide for teaching writing) with Sheena Cameron.
